A recorded transaction that has not appeared on a bank statement yet, such as a check not yet cashed.

Uncleared lines roll forward to the next reconciliation. A line that stays uncleared for months is worth a look — it may be a duplicate or a payment that never happened.
Example
A $250 check written July 30 clears in August; it is uncleared on the July reconciliation and cleared on August’s.
